Accessibility

We want everyone to be able to use Buto. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.

What we’ve done

• All features work with a keyboard, focus is always visible, and there is a “skip to content” link.
• Dialogs keep keyboard focus inside them and close with Escape.
• Text and buttons meet AA colour contrast in light and dark mode, including the coloured project headers.
• Images have text alternatives. Portfolio images use the caption their author wrote.
• Animations are reduced when your device asks for reduced motion.
• Pages work at 200% zoom and on small screens.

Known limitations

• The voice room and voice notes need hearing or speaking. Team chat offers the same conversation in text, and you can ask your team to post updates there.
• Voice notes don’t have transcripts yet.
• Content members upload, like portfolio images, is only as accessible as its author makes it. We prompt for captions.
